Sharp Turns in Life

It's been a wild ride since October when I closed the brick and mortar version of Donna's by Design. We've had so many things going on that I haven't had a chance to blog or even change the web site.

I've changed the business quite a bit. Now, the shop is all about my arts and crafting projects. I'm only selling my work (except for the Create-A-Card (tm) line. I've started making accessories for my belly dancing friends. And I've gone back to working in educational publishing.

Who knew that drastic changes could be for the better? Working from my home studio allowed me to spend a lot more time with my mother before she died in early April. With her living with us, I could help her out as her cancer progressed. It was an emotional time, but she went peacefully, which is what she wanted.

Because of my mom, I've gotten back into serious quilting. We went to the Houston International Quilt Show in November and I was inspired. I'll show off some of my new designs in a later post.

Speaking of my studio/workroom. I wanted to show off a picture of how it looks now.

My new work space.

When I first moved my workroom back to the house, I took over the dining room, and kind of overflowed into the living room and several storage sheds. Now, I'm in what was originally the family room. It's almost enough space to work in, but I still need more storage space. We'll see how it goes after I finish organizing it. I need more shelving and more boxes, but I'm liking the way it looks.
